NAKED is a contemporary physical theatre performance that uses cabaret, recorded interviews, music and dance to celebrate the weird, the wonderful and beautifully unique.
NAKED is the first theatre show NAKEDpresents created, with support from organisations such as DANCE4, Battersea Arts Centre and Shoebox Theatre. They first performed it at VAULT Festival 2020, where it was nominated for an Origin Award.
In 2021 Swans Events partnered with NAKEDpresents to develop the show further. We were awarded an Arts Council England project grant to take NAKED into a two week R&D period culminating in an online performance at Voila! Europe Theatre Festival 2020.
NAKED questions the disconnection in human interaction due to modern technology and feelings of caution and fear. It reverses traditional gender roles within dance and theatre - a celebration of difference, and what it means to truly be ourselves.
At a time of increasing disconnection, what does it mean to fully embrace one another? What does it take to be honestly, authentically ourselves? How can we champion female strength and male vulnerability?
